Bayleigh Chase in Easton
Bayleigh Chase provides nursing home services in Easton, Maryland in Talbot County. This facility provides both long and short-term, 24-hour skilled nursing in both private and semi-private Medicare certified rooms. It is owned by Intergrace, a Maryland non-profit with about $12 million in assets. Intergrace has three other facilities: Buckingham’s Choice, Copper Ridge, and Fairhaven
This is one of those graduated type communities where the level of care you get depends needs. This seems like a pretty good setup. Located within a continuing care retirement community, it has apartment homes and spacious cottages and villas. As it residents age, Bayleigh Chase also has short-term rehab, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and respite care.
In some, this facility has all the earmarkings of a good facility, the type that would put Maryland nursing home lawyers out of business if replicated throughout the state. Even the employees seem happy.
The Medicare ratings back up this thesis. Bayleigh Chase earned a high five-star Medicare rating, placing it in the top 20% of nursing homes in Maryland. The last inspection we looked at had extremely minor deficiencies. The home has 90 beds which makes it smaller than the average size nursing home in Maryland. At last check, it was 77% occupied.
The average number of hours per day of care each resident received from nurses and therapists exceeds the state and U.S. average. Further, the health deficiencies are noted at a lower average and the percentage of residents who receive the recommended care is higher than the average.
It does appear that a medical malpractice and negligence lawsuit was filed in July 2016 against Integrace's Fairhaven location. We will try to get more information what we think is a nursing home lawsuit and post it here. The take-home message is that there are concerns about the quality of care even in our best nursing homes.
